Gabriel's Inn

4730 Ijamesville Road
Ijamesville, MD
Owners: Sean & Shirl DeLawder

Finding your way to Gabriel's Inn that first time may be a bit challenging, but it is definitely worth the effort!  Located in Ijamesville, MD just minutes outside of Frederick and the Monocacy Battlefields, Gabriel's Inn is a paranormal treasure lost in time.

Originally settled by Welsh mining families, the property has a rich history which includes stints as a renowned quarry, a Civil War Hospital for both Northern and Southern Troops, a Women's Asylum; and now serves as a fine French Restaurant.

The property itself has seen its share of trauma, from the war which once divided our nation to tornadic winds this past summer that claimed dozens of trees dating back hundreds of years.

Gabriel's Inn sits atop a quarry of slate rich in natural isotopes, what I refer to as the "Wheaties" of paranormal fuels; and is immediately abutted by the B&O Railroad with its long, rich history.

We have collected  and documented some amazing evidence from our time at Gabriel's Inn, and continue to be amazed by level of paranormal activity found there.

Based on the consistancy and quality of the evidence we were able to collect, we  the first group to officially declare Gabriel's Inn "haunted" .

We have included a sampling of some of the audio and video evidence we have collected from our continuing investigations at Gabriel's Inn.
This EVP was captured in the Wine Cellar at Gabriel's Inn.  We believe this is the soldier that was reportedly left behind and died there during the Civil War.

We have been able to capture a number of names in EVPs during various investigations.  This time we are introduced to "Patrick".
This was the first EVP I captured at Gabriel's Inn.  It was captured only 47  seconds into the recording.

This EVP was captured by the digital audio recorder (DAR) we staged in the Women's Restroom;

We were preparing to go up to investigate the attic when Carol, our hostess, realized that she did not have a flashlight.  You can hear us discussing the flashlight situation which apparently caught the attention of one of the resident spirits there.

In this EVP you will hear "Hey or Hi, point your flashlights over here".  This is a great example of an intelligent interaction and/or intelligent haunting, and it was only the beginning!
This is another EVP in which we are attempting to obtain a name.  It is especially interesting because we receive a full sentence in response, however it was delivered by what sounds like three different voices.

You will hear me ask, "Can you tell me your name please".  To which the first voice and response is "Yes", the second part in a second voice whispered, "Go back and tell them", and the last part of the response in the third voice saying "Kearney".  The response in whole "Yes, go back and tell them Kearney".
In this segment, I was talking about some of the meters we use as tools to help us  locate and communicate withs spirits.  Apparently this spirit was eager to share his location with me as he instructs me to "turn around".

I can't help but wonder what I might have been able to see if I had been able to hear this communication in real time.
In this EVP we were again able to capture  a name.  We were hopeful we could track a  "Dr. Epstein" to a period of service at the women's asylum.  Unfortunately all hospital records were lost in a fire and we have been unable to determine if a Dr. Epstein ever worked at Riggs Cottage or under one of the later doctors.  If you have any information that could help us validate this information please contact us.  We'd love the opportunity to speak with you!
This is one of my favorite EVPs.   We were again trying  obtain names and other personal data that may help us in our quest to validate our findings.

While I didn't get a name this time, I did get a response from what appears to be two different spirits with two very different attitudes about me at the time.  The first  struck me of someone who may have worked  at the institution, perhaps a nurse as I was instructed to "keep it down".  The second appeared to have a bit of curiousity about me, and what I was doing. You will hear the question posed, "Why do you stop and talk to spirits"?

This is another example of an intelligent interaction.
In this segment, I am again asking any spirit  who may be present to identify themselves.  We do this in hopes of being able to match names with any records that may exist in relationship to the property or in an area.   Meet "Joe or Joel Olmstead or Homestead".
In this segment I was expressing my frustration with some of the meters.  Many designed without backlighting so they could be read easily.  I had to chuckle when  I heard this spirit offer his solution to the problem by telling me to,  "Turn on your flashlight"
Gabriel's Got Ghosts!
In November 2008, B2B declared Gabriel's Inn  haunted and presented owners Sean and Shril DeLawder , their son Jordan and Carol LaRiviere of Gabriel's Paranormal Societywith an official Certificate of Declaration along copies of the evidence collected during B2B investigations.  B2B continues to conduct investigations and research at this location and have identified a number of spirits with intelligent interactions, some of which have identified themselves by name.

Notice the little orb that decided to make an appearance in this shot.  when enlarged, it looks to have a side profile face smiling in it.  The orb did not appear in the pictures before or after this shot.
